This workshop is designed to provide participants with a foundational understanding of recovery-oriented practice in community mental health and addiction settings. The assessment process is discussed using a recovery-oriented lens. The practical application of the framework is reinforced through large and small group discussions using various client studies. 

Participants will:

  • Understand the important and role of assessment in community mental health and addiction services. 
  • Recognize the importance of client participation in the assessment process. 
  • Differentiate recover/client centered practice principles from medical approach. 
  • Examine recovery-oriented practice application to client assessment.
